"I would like to see someone at a young age become successful"

What is your job and what most excites you about what you do?

Livestock and Forage Specialist - provide education and extension materials to farmers on livestock nutrition and production as well as forage management and production

How diverse is your workplace, or your field of work as a whole? What do you think should be done to support greater diversity and create more inclusive practices in your workplace and in the Agriculture field?

Our department has become extremely diverse in the ratio of men and women as well as ethnic diversity as a whole. We have many different races of people now within our department and a very good balance of women and men.

What advice would you give to young women interested in a career in your field?

TO GO FOR IT! There is lots of opportunity in this field, it will be challenging at times, especially when raising a family at the same time, but very worth it as it is satisfying knowing that we are there to help producers to produce the food we eat!

What are some of your interests outside of work?

Gardening, volunteering, raising my family, enjoying the outdoors.

What are you most hoping you will learn from your mentee? What learning goals do you have for this experience?

I would like to see someone at a young age become successful and fulfilled through a career in agriculture.
