How diverse is your workplace, or your field of work as a whole? What do you think should be done to support greater diversity and create more inclusive practices in your workplace and in the Agriculture field?

My workplaces are not diverse. As the first female board member on a commodity board, I am lucky to have a great supportive group around me both on and off the board. However, I also know a lot of women who are more qualified for leadership roles than the men in them, and I want to help change that.

What advice would you give to young women interested in a career in your field?

Know when to say yes to an opportunity and when to say no to certain ones. Also, always be sure you get paid what you are worth, and you are valuable.

What are you most hoping you will learn from your mentee? What learning goals do you have for this experience?

A goal would be for me would be, through encouragement and catalyzing my mentee to success, I will share in that energy in my own career
