Operations lead

Bayer Canada

What is your job and what most excites you about what you do?

I am an Operations Lead at Bayer Canada, Crop Science Division in Headingley, MB. As an Ops Lead I am responsible for all day to-day operations of our multifunctional research site and development of my team.

What I love the most about my job is having the opportunity to lead a fantastic team through our fast paced, always changing business; and leveraging the great talent and skills of my team members to face new challenges and create new opportunities to help drive our testing programs forward.

How diverse is your workplace, or your field of work as a whole? What do you think should be done to support greater diversity and create more inclusive practices in your workplace and in the Agriculture field?

We have a very well balanced team at Headingley. Overall, to promote inclusivity, our company supports multiple, internal Employee Inclusivity and Diversity groups and programs. Specifically at Headingley, a large portion of our team is involved in a group called Women in Science Exchange (WiSE). I am very proud to work for a company where inclusivity and diversity are celebrated.

What advice would you give to young women interested in a career in your field?

Create opportunities for yourself, don’t wait for things to happen, make it happen. Surround yourself with people who will support you, help guide you and advocate for you in your career. Work hard, and it will pay off.

What are some of your interests outside of work?

I like outdoor activities such as hiking and gardening. I like puzzles and brain games, and I am no stranger to Netflix!

What are you most hoping you will learn from your mentee? What learning goals do you have for this experience?

Gain new and different perspectives. Learn about what it is that University students are looking for in a workplace and take that feedback back to ensure that as a company we are able to create a workplace that attracts the best talent! experience!
