Discovery Centre Coordinator

The Bruce D. Campbell Farm and Food Discovery Centre

What is your job and what most excites you about what you do?

1) As Discovery Centre Coordinator - I oversee day to day operations of The Bruce D. Campbell Farm and Food Discovery Centre. I take bookings for school, daycare, industry, and government groups for both tours, meetings and program sharing public trust messaging about Agriculture and Food. I love sharing my passion and knowledge with everyone I encounter and seeing that "spark" in people's eyes as they discover and learn about Canadian Agriculture. 2) Instructor for Food Handlers course - I instruct a food handler's certificate course part time. I love the challenge of making food safety knowledge interesting while promoting the importance to the students. Seeing the genuine gratitude on the faces of those that pass their test at the end of the course is amazing.

What advice would you give to young women interested in a career in your field?

It's okay to say "I don't know". Follow it up with an "I'll find out" and actually look into it. We are constantly learning and always have more to learn.

What are some of your interests outside of work?

I love bike riding, spending time with my family - especially my adorable nephew, and relaxing.

What are you most hoping you will learn from your mentee? What learning goals do you have for this experience?

Gain more experience networking. I am also excited to learn how to be a mentor.
