"Having a great network around you is the most important and helpful"
I am an Analyst in both General Consulting (where I do most of the ag projects) and Farm Consulting, for which I manage and conduct cost of production studies, and build models to analyze farmers' efficiency and profitability. I especially like the diversity of my job, working with all ag sectors (from dairy and chickens to livestock transport and grain farms, and from primary production to processing and marketing), and that it benefits actual producers in Canada.
Having a great network around you is the most important and helpful, as well as a sense of farming and what is happening in the agricultural sector. The rest you can learn on the job :)
