Manager of the Industry Leadership Section

Government of Manitoba

What is your job and what most excites you about what you do?

As the manager of the Industry Leadership section, I provide management and leadership to Rural Leadership Specialist staff who lead and support several programs to increase the capacity of agriculture and agri-food related organizations to drive economic development. It's very exciting because the industry is incredibly dynamic and constantly adapting to change. We have good working relationships across the ag sector working together in Manitoba.

How diverse is your workplace, or your field of work as a whole? What do you think should be done to support greater diversity and create more inclusive practices in your workplace and in the Agriculture field?

The government of Manitoba was one of Manitoba's Top Employers for 2017 and one of the largest employers in Manitoba with over 14,000 employees throughout the province. The professional workforce reflects the diversity of the people of Manitoba.

What advice would you give to young women interested in a career in your field?

I would encourage young women to consider a career in agriculture because the field of interest is diverse and there are many opportunities.

What are some of your interests outside of work?

Music, sports fan and socializing

What are you most hoping you will learn from your mentee? What learning goals do you have for this experience?

That I will learn with the mentee in the areas that she is most interested in!
