"I am excited about learning their story and what brought them into agriculture"
As a Research Manager I am in charge of coordinating supplies and staff and make sure all the little details are taken care of so that the job gets done. I like it because I have always been a person for the details so to see a great end result out of the work we do always excites me.
Agriculture can be a non-inclusive field, which is funny considering the lack of labour and people that exists in the sector. This may be for many reasons, but we have to work to change this. In reality there are people in every country that work in agriculture, so to say that there can be no collaboration is false. The way forward would be for people to see that the "excluded" people are capable of doing a good job and helping the sector. Maybe this should come in the form of more internships or trial periods.
I would tell them that it is a great field to work in and they should take a lot of pride in that fact that they are helping to feed the world. Whatever technology comes along, the principles haven't changed in thousands of years: grow plants to feed people. Many opportunities exist and the world is their oyster which they just have to take advantage of.
Outside of work I like going to Bikram yoga classes, travelling and learning languages.
I am excited about learning their story and what brought them into agriculture. I hope I can encourage them in their journey forwards.
